Security is the foremost concern in today’s hyper-connected, smart world. Emerging technologies like Internet-of-Things and Smart Autonomous Vehicles, calls for a structured approach to include, well-defined adversarial model, quantifiable analysis of Threat-Vulnerability-Risk and adding necessary countermeasures for continuous management of security. In this talk, I will cover the recent advances in our research group dealing with the design, attack and automation of core cryptographic components. These complementary advances will be used for the design and implementation of security protocols for complex Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). Specifically, we will discuss studies and propositions with a secure camera, power substation and autonomous vehicle. We will end the presentation with breakthrough advances in beyond-CMOS technologies and their impact on the secure system designs.
Anupam Chattopadhyay is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore with adjunct appointment at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. From 2010-2014, he was research group leader and Junior Professor at RWTH Aachen, Germany. He received his PhD from RWTH Aachen, Master’s from ALaRI and BE from Jadavpur University, in 2008, 2002 and 2000, respectively. In the past, he was visiting Professor at EPFL, Switzerland and Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. His works have resulted in multiple technology transfers, over 150 conference/journal articles, books, book chapters and research monographs. Anupam is interested in the research domains of computer architecture, security, Electronic Design Automation, emerging computing technologies, as well as their mysterious interplays.
