In the past 30 years, the wireless technology has been developed from 2G, 3G, 4G and going forward for 5G with faster speed data and voice communication. Wireless terminal device like cellular phone becomes very important for people’s daily life. However, designing antenna and RF circuit for cellular phone is not easy, it means multiband support, high efficiency, low radiation to human body, high isolation between LTE, WiFi, GPS antennas and low correlation coefficient for MIMO antenna system. In this talk, the speaker will share 20 years terminal design experience to introduce the antenna evolution history, state-of-art technologies, future development trend and current research activities at Shanghai University.
Guangli Yang received B.S. degree in Physics from Beijing University of Science and Technology, China in 1997. He received Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of South Carolina, USA in 2005. He was mostly with antenna and RF research group at Motorola Inc. in USA from 2005 to 2013 started as Senior, Senior Staff and promoted as Principal Engineer before left the company. After that, he had been a Professor at Shanghai University Since March 2014. He is author or co-author of more than 50 publications and has over 21 patents filed or issued. His research interests include smart antennas, antenna miniaturization and configurability, digital beam-forming system, and microwave circuits. Dr. Yang is the Director of the RF Research Group at Shanghai University and the recipient of Shanghai “1000 Plan” and “Eastern Scholarship” Awards in 2013.
